Introduce the ((Rhythm*Pocket!)) and 「UloveUwaitingU」

“Hi friends! It’s been 2 months since 「Keeper’s Wish」 and were here to greet you. Along with the latest release from Lionclad, We’d like to share yoou about the new live content, 「Rhythm*Pocket!」.

Following 「Almighty Princess」 in 2020, the long-awaited single 「UloveUwaitingU」 was released on March 21st at 6 PM. With the caption ‘Playing while waiting for you♪,’ the new single track introduces even more dynamic performances from Lionclad. She added live looping* performance this time in the video! Even more enjoyable performances.”

Live looping: Use of equipment that records and repeats in real-time, allowing users to loop recorded phrases themselves.

“When using both hands and feet, I had a curiosity about ‘What would happen to me?’ I played while wondering ‘How far can I go?’ Wanting to challenge other performances that I couldn’t do while playing the drums, I used a looper. I wanted to loop all the sounds coming from the equipment, so instead of using an MPC sequencer, I connected the looper overall and placed the SP404 as the final output for my work. Before starting the songwriting process, I always prepare sample packs first. This time, I created texture chord sounds mixed with various sounds and layered them on the looper after passing through effects. Through many trials and errors, I could create unexpectedly fascinating loops or try various polyrhythms of loops. I also tried using the roll function of the SP404, which has limited functionality but can produce quite interesting results. Certainly, the advanced equipment of today’s era seems to greatly assist in live performances. Connecting MIDI to allow various equipment to interact with each other, despite going through trial and error, makes the work itself very enjoyable. I don’t know music theory, so when playing the keyboard, I try to find harmonious tones. In live performances, since I have to play quickly, if you look closely at the keyboard in the video, you can see the star-shaped stickers I’ve attached.”

We’ve prepared a new form of live performance called Rhythm*Pocket! where you can enjoy a unique blend of rhythm gaming and live entertainment. 「Rhythm*Pocket!」 combines the elements of a rhythm game with live performance. For 「UloveUwaitingU,」 we created charts, essential for rhythm gaming, and hitting the notes that fly towards you on these charts triggers a joyous dance time.
Additionally, since she plays many buttons on musical equipment rapidly, we also created logs to show which buttons of which equipment she pressed every second. We hope that viewers of 「Rhythm*Pocket!」 can feel the delightful sensation of playing along with us!
